The rumors and
news reports have reached critical mass: it looks like our Preznit, just before he goes off to Texas for his August brush clearin', is gonna give Bolton a recess appointment as UN ambassador. I say go ahead George, make my day.
Bush rewards loyalty--and he does so with little consideration to competence, past performance, or crimes. Mafia mentality. Excessive pride. Part of the downfall.
Each day, Bolton looks increasingly non-confirmable: The anti-diplomatic behaviors, the lies, the possible links to Niger/Plame. He is damaged goods, and sticking with him is the fast track to lame duckiness.
I say we should hammer this if Bush goes through with it. We should focus our energies on this, not the Roberts nomination.
Face it Kossaks: we need to pick our battles. So far, the dirt on Roberts isn't gonna get a filibuster. Has even one senator said he/she will vote no? We shouldn't crumble on Roberts without giving him intense scrutiny, but unless something truly shocking emerges, Roberts will become the next Supreme Court Justice. I'll probably get flamed for that comment, but I am a realist.
We've got plenty to attack with Bolton, Rove, and Cheney. In the long run, the more Bush supports those fuckers, the better for our side. Roberts? Meh.
