Here is the number one argument against giving the military more responsibility during domestic disasters, why would we believe the military would know what to do any better than FEMA?
This is the same military under the same leader (Rumsfeld) that didn't need so many soldiers in Iraq. The same military that would rather pay outsourced people hundreds of dollars an hour to guard things in Iraq instead of using a few more soldiers whose benefits can be cut during war time? The same military that wanted to control rebuilding Iraq instead of allowing the State Department in? The same military presently clearing out cities in Iraq and then allowing terrorists to return when the US moves on to clear out the next city? And then having to go back and clear out the first city again?
I support the individual soldiers, but the present leadership of the armed forces, as fully displayed in Iraq, does NOT earn my vote to take on ANY additional responsibilities.
