It may be unlikely but it does happen in politics.
The battlefield on Meier seems to developing quickly.
- Many conservatives do not like her because she's doesn't have a solid-enough conservative record.
- Many liberals do not like her because she has no record and she's an unabashed Bush loyalist.
The fact is that with 20 votes on each side (plus one) the two groups could put together a filibuster which could not be broken by the nuclear option.
So consider it. Join with conservatives in hopes that getting someone better, or buy a pig in a poke?
