Three famous names occupy the top spots in the race for the presidency. Two, Biden and Trump, have a chance. The third, Kennedy, has only a spoiler roll to play. Although whose campaign he will spoil, no one knows.
Each of the three has baggage. The accomplished Biden is not a natural orator. He walks stiffly. And has the occasional off-night. The demented dotard Trump is a mendacious moron with dictatorial desires. And Kennedy is insane.
I am not a psychiatrist. But I don’t need to be an auto mechanic to know when my car is on fire. And in case anyone needs more proof of RFK Jr’s mental tragedy, he is only too eager to provide it.
While attending some libertarian shindig in DC on Friday, the man with a name, but no other appreciable assets, tweeted his neutrality on the events of 9/11. He supports his ‘even-handedness’ by saying he “won’t take sides on 9/11 or any of the other debates.”
There is no valid debate on 9/11. Contrarianism is not science. And people with marketing degrees opining on the strength of structural steel vis-a-vis burning jet fuel are not scientists.
Why is this putz even considered a contender? He has dismissed Jan 6 as no biggie. He said Americans living under COVID protocols had it worse than Anne Frank.
He asserted that the COVID virus had been engineered to tackle some ethnicities and spare others.
“COVID-19 is targeted to attack Caucasians and black people. The people who are most immune are Ashkenazi Jews and Chinese.”
Kennedy also claimed that George W. Bush fixed the 2004 election. That the CIA killed his uncle. And that Sirhan Sirhan was mentally coerced/hypnotized to kill his father — does he think ‘The Manchurian Candidate’ was a documentary?
Then there is his starring role, anti-vaxxer extraordinaire. And his claim that big Pharma has ‘bought’ the Democrats, even though they give more money to Republicans - while the Democrats want to slash drug prices.
But he saves his 24-karat craziness for Dr. Fauci. He is so Ahab-like in his obsession with America’s leading epidemiologist, that he wrote a 2021 book with the modest title, The Real Anthony Fauci: Bill Gates, Big Pharma, and the Global War on Democracy and Public Health.
In this screed, Kennedy characterizes Fauci as “the powerful technocrat who helped orchestrate and execute 2020’s historic coup d’etat against Western democracy” and claims that his “remedies,” including the COVID vaccines that stopped people from dying, were “often more lethal than the diseases they pretend to treat.”
It is all so fecking nuts.
I suspect that Kennedy’s assertion that the “government routinely lies to the public” is grounded in the health community’s complete dismissal of his raison d’être — vaccine denial.
The federal bureaucracy does not deliberately lie to us. It can get things wrong. But there is no Deep State, any more than there is a Loch Ness monster.
One party catering to its paranoid base is politics, not proof. It has been 70 years, and still no one has found Joe McCarthy’s communists in the State Department.
But back to the three guys at the top of the presidential polls. Kennedy is Looney Tunes. But even with his manifold and myriad mental defects, he is still far better qualified to be president than Trump.
Next, let’s dismiss the hour’s hottest political question: Is Biden the Democrats’ best candidate? It is the wrong question. The correct question is: would either Trump or Kennedy make the country a better place?
The evidence is an overwhelming and indisputable “NO!”
I have no crystal ball. I don’t know if Biden will stay as the Democratic candidate. Or if he’ll be replaced by Kamala Harris. Or someone else. But I do know this. Biden on his worst day will do nothing to harm the country. And on any day, is light years better than anyone the Republicans or Independents have on offer.
