18 days after Trump lost 2020 election
•November 22, 2020 Donald Trump and Mike Pompeo withdrew from "Open Skies Treaty."
•October 7, 2019 letter (below) proves Trump & Pompeo knew withdrawing would “only benefit Russia” and allow Putin to invade Ukraine.
* October 7, 2019 Letter
The October 2019 letter states that withdrawing from the Treaty will only benefit Russia.
“American withdrawal would only benefit Russia and be harmful to our allies’ and partners’ national security interest.”
The October 2019 letter states the importance of the Treaty for protecting Ukraine’s national security from Russia.
“Observation flights under the Treaty have generated additional information regarding Russian military action in Ukraine and provided a check on further Russian aggression there.”
The October 2019 letter also states the Ukraine is imploring United States to stay in the Treaty.
“...Ukraine in particular, have repeatedly stressed the importance of the Open Skies Treaty for their efforts to monitor Russia’s military.”
Now I will explain why October 2019 is a very coincidental date for Trump to begin to take steps to give Ukraine to Putin.
Trump -v- Ukraine 2019-2020 TIMELINE
* July 25, 2019: Donald Trump Blackmailed Ukraine
A whistleblower exposed that on a July 25, 2019 phone call, Donald Trump blackmailed Ukraine President Zelenskiy to help Trump win 2020 election.
On the call, Trump threatened to withhold military assistance to Ukraine unless Zelenskiy agreed to:
- launch trumped-up investigations into Joe Biden to help Trump win 2020 election,
- told Zelenskiy to say that in 2016 Ukraine framed Russia for hacking the DNC,
- urged Zelenskiy to work with Rudy Giuliani and Bill Barr on those matters.
Mike Pompeo was on that phone call.
* September 24, 2019: House Begins Impeachment Proceedings
Because Trump blackmailed Ukraine, the House Impeached Trump for “Abusing of Power of his Office” and “Obstructing Congress.”
* October 2019: Trump & Pompeo Move To Withdrawal From Open Skies Treaty
Despite the serious national security concerns Ukraine had for Russian invasion, in October 2019 Donald Trump and Mike Pompeo took steps to withdrawal from the Treaty.
* November 22, 2020:
Trump had already lost the 2020 election.
Given the grave and real threat Russia posed to Ukraine’s national security there is no legitimate reason for Trump and Mike Pompeo to withdrawal from the Treaty 18 days after Trump lost the election.
The October 7, 2019 letter gives the only reason Trump withdrew on 11/22/2020:
“withdrawal from the Treaty will only benefit Russia.”
“American withdrawal would only benefit Russia and be harmful to our allies’ and partners’ national security interest.”
* Summary of Open Skies Treaty:
The Treaty was first proposed in 1955 by President Eisenhower and rejected by USSR’s Nikit Khrushchev. Finally, in 1992 the United States signed the Open Skies Treaty in Helsinki, Finland. (The same Helsinki where Trump told the world he trusts Putin more than his own appointed Director of National Security, Dan Coates).
Open Skies Treaty allows each member-state-party to conduct short-notice, unarmed observation flights over each others’ entire territories to collect data on military forces and activities. The data collected is shared with all member-states. The goal of the Treaty is to allow each member-state the ability to openly surveil each other which will build confidence, trust, and stability among the member-states.
* 18 Days After Trump Lost 2020 Election Trump & Pompeo Gifted Putin the Ukraine.
Based off the October 7, 2019 letter, Trump & Pompeo knew they were gifting Putin the Ukraine.
* Only One Reason Trump & Pompeo Withdrew on 11/22/2020
per October 7, 2019 letter “withdrawal from the Treaty will only benefit Russia.”
“American withdrawal would only benefit Russia and be harmful to our allies’ and partners’ national security interest.”
So the next time you hear a pro-Putin GOPer blame President Biden, remind them that 18 days after Trump lost 2020 election, Trump & Pompeo gave Ukraine to Putin.
